Abstract
Antimicrobial property of tea and coffee is well known. Green tea is known for its therapeutic properties. In this study antibacterial activity of green tea, black tea and coffee extracts were evaluated against isolated bacterial species from healthy human saliva, which after identification was found to be Streptococcus sp. Antioxidant and antimicrobial property of green, black tea and coffee can be exploit as an alternative of therapeutic drugs, as many of the microbial species had discovered the escape mechanism against them.
