Abstract
Hertz potential vectors, solutions of the Maxwell wave equation, in absence of sources and in a homogeneous isotropic medium, generate electric and magnetic fields. Here, working with cartesian and cylindrical coordinates, we get further electromagnetic beams with Hertz vectors, solutions of the paraxial wave equation.
