Abstract
Author proposed a method of automatic target detection (ATD) in low contrast thermal images. The goal is to detect targets in night vision. ATD is incorporated in surveillance cameras and have lots of application. In this algorithm there are three stages for detection. Firstly, a difference image is obtained to find interested areas in an input image. Secondly, image segmentation is done using adaptive thresholding. Lastly, clutter rejection is done using predefined knowledge of area of target.
