Abstract

Antivirus engines are facing many new malware samples daily, this phenomenon is very common. New malware samples fall in two categories, first category of malware samples comprised of totally new content and the other category belongs to malware samples that are variants of existing malware. Metamorphic viruses belong to the second category in term of evolution. Different algorithms have been developed to tackle metamorphic viruses. In this paper we analyzed 60 research articles and designed classification table based on static, dynamic and hybrid features.
