Abstract

Exact traveling wave solutions are assembled in a uniform way by using two different techniques; i.e. further improved -expansion and extended tanh-function methods. To test the validity, efficiency and reliability of the two techniques the nonlinear (3 + 1)-dimensional Jimbo–Miwa equation is chosen. We show that both the techniques give same set of solutions. It is observed that further improved -expansion gives a variety of exact solutions as well.
