Abstract
In this study we report on the interaction of the Hydroxypropylcellulose (HPC) polymer with surfactants viz, Sodiumdodecyl sulfate (SDS) and tetra dodecyl triammonium bromide (TTAB) in dilute aqueous solution in presence of borax. Interaction is analyzed on the basis of the results obtained from the tensiometric and conductometric studies. The results revealed that surfactant molecules eventually prefer to separately micellize instead of forming a complex or mixed micelle at higher polymer concentration in the HPC-SDS solution system. The effect of presence of borax in the polymer-surfactant system especially on the nature of micelles has also been discussed in the study.
