Abstract
A new oxime ligand, H2L (C13H18N4O2) was synthesized by the condensation of alcoholic solutions of hydrazide compound and acetyl monoxime. The seven coordination compounds, [(HL)Co2(OAc)2(H2O)4], [(HL)Mn(OAc)(H2O)], [(HL)Zn(OAc)(H2O)], [(HL)Ni(OAc)(H2O)], [(HL)RuCl2(H2O)], [(HL)Fe2Cl4(H2O)3] and [(H2L)2UO2(NO3)2] have been synthesized by reacting Co(II), Mn(II), Zn(II), Ni(II), Ru(III ), Fe(III) and UO2(II) ions with the ligand. The complexes have been isolated in solid state and characterized by elemental (C, H, N) analysis, magnetic susceptibility measurements, spectral (UV-Visible, IR, 1H and 13C NMR), thermal analysis and molar conductivity. A tentative structure for these complexes were proposed and suggested in which coordination numbers were six around Co(II), Mn(II), Zn(II), Ni(II), Ru(III) and Fe(III) metal ions whereas was eight in the case UO2(II) ion. Elemental analyses, stoichiometric and spectroscopic data of the metal complexes indicated that the metal: Ligand ratio of Co(II) and Fe(III) complexes were found to be 2M:1L while this ratio was 1:1 in Mn(II), Zn(II), Ni(II) and Ru(III) complexes and 1:2 in UO2(II) complex. Finally, the ligand and its complexes were assessed for their bioactivity.
