Abstract
Series of 3-(p-substituted phenyl)azo-6-pyridone dyes were synthesized, complexed using Copper, Nickel and Chromium metals into pigments, resulted into low solubility and increased in melting points. The dyes and their corresponding pigments have been characterized by, FTIR, GCMS and UV visible spectra. The electronic absorption of the complexes covers the λmax range of 460 – 490 nm in acetone. The extinction coefficient of the dyes confirmed to be moderate ranging from 5.84 × 104 – 7.54 × 104 Lmol-1cm-1.
