Abstract

Fullers Earth was found to be an efficient solid catalyst to carry out quantitative O-acetylation of Alcohols and Phenols under solvent free conditions with acetyl chloride at ambient temperature. The catalyst can be recovered and recycled making the procedure environmentally benign.
