Abstract

This paper is devoted for computing the inverse of a nearly singular matrix by using the Divide and Conquer Algorithm (D&C algorithm). The LU factorization will be used to convert the matrix into a product of a lower and upper triangular matrix. The algorithm will be implemented on MATLAB with increasing computational digits to minimize the round off error and to show the sensitivity of the system. Numerical examples will be given of a nearly singular matrix and results will be compared for different computational digits.

Keywords: Nearly singular matrix, LU algorithm, divides-and conquer algorithm, mathematical software
