Abstract

In the present paper, a two parameter model independent of Lindemann’s law is suggested to study the pressure dependence of the melting temperatures in solids. The relation has been found quite successful in case of thirteen solids studied herein including alkali metals and rare-gas solids. The minimum pressure range studied is 0.0-6.87 kbar in case of Xe and the maximum pressure range studied is 0.0-80.0 kbar in case of alkali metals.

Keywords: Melting temperature, pressure, alkali metals, rare-gas solids
