Abstract

In the present day world, radio frequency is used in many control and security systems. Though infra-red and laser technology are still used in both control and security devices, they have one major setback, they must transmit in a particular direction. In addition, they are easily disturbed by barriers placed between the transmitter and receiver. Radio frequency systems’ mode of transmission could be made in any chosen direction. They are less affected by barriers and can travel a long distance as such they are applied in almost all areas. In the radio frequency based telemetry and telecommunication security surveillance control systems implemented in the present research work, much intelligence need not be transmitted. The detection of a quantity sends off a signal which triggers another system in a remote location. The transmitter detects human voice and shadow. This enables the transmitter which sends a radio frequency signal to process it and use it to trigger a bell and an indicator lamp. This system could be used in security gadgets and as a call bell. After the construction and packaging, the system was tested. It was however discovered that the sensitivity and distance was improved when batteries were used. This was due to the high current capacity of the batteries. The largest amperage got from available transformers was 3Amps and it was a 15 voltage transformer. It was really bulky and expensive thus the decision to maintain the 12V, 500 mA transformer used. However for better efficiency, a battery source is recommended especially at the transmitter circuit.
