Abstract

The work presents an assessment of radiological concentration of 83mKr, 85mKr, 85Kr, and 88Kr considering a hypothetical accident of TRIGA Mark-II research Reactor at AERE, Savar. The concentrations were estimated through different pathways like vegetation and ground. In all pathways, the maximum concentration was found in S (South) direction. The maximum concentration in ground of 83mKr, 85mKr, 85Kr, 88Kr, and total were found to be 6.994E+4 Bq/m2, 5.567E+5 Bq/m2, 1.115E+3 Bq/m2, 8.53E+5 Bq/m2, and 1.48E+6 Bq/m2, respectively. In ground, the concentration of 88Kr was predicted to be higher and 85Kr was measured to be lower than all other isotopes of krypton. The maximum concentration in vegetation of 85Kr is predicted to be 325.522 (Bq/Kg), while no concentrations of 83mKr, 85mKr, and 88Kr were observed in vegetation. The results of the present work will be an important guide in case of radiological accident, for implementing radiological safety measures intended for radiation protection against the vegetable ingestion and ground deposition in the vicinity of the TRIGA research reactor at AERE, Savar.
