Abstract

Change in physiology of biological tissues is one of the rare possible effects due to electromagnetic (EM) wave energy absorption at Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM) frequency band. Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) is defined to quantify this influence. In this paper the magnitude and distribution of SAR in a six-layer human head model, affected by the operation frequency, distance, radiation power of the mobile phone and use of a phantom hand-free are computed using finite element method (FEM).

Keywords: Bluetooth hands free, Finite Element Method (FEM), Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM), Six-layer human head model, Specific Absorption Rate (SAR).
