Abstract

This paper provides an analysis on the power handling capability, also known as the power capacity, of a coaxial cable line. Various constraints limit the power performance of these lines which include cable size and type; the operating frequency of transmission; and most importantly, the level of attenuation present which amount to the RF losses of the lines. It is essential that a careful analysis on the power capabilities of coaxial cables is pursued to help provide ways to improve performance for such an important component in RF transmission. Without a doubt, the proper choice of cable will play an important role on the success of a station using the line. This is the very essence why the analysis was carried out.

Keywords: Coaxial cable, attenuation, frequency;, power capacity, cable size, cable type
