Abstract
3D plot mapping for freeform using CNC-CMM play an important role in advanced industries. CNC-CMM machine can assess the parts specification, which has a significant impact on design, manufacturing, inspection and quality control processes. This article, presented four important issues to give a comprehensive view of the progress in this area. Strategic of 3D freeform measurements using coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) and on-machine-measurement (OMM); analyses of some sources of errors in each method have been studied. Moreover, verification and calibration techniques for CNC-CMM and CNC machines according to ISO standards have been discussed. Eventually, the aim is to give an overview of 3D plot mapping using freeform workpiece utilizing computer aided inspection (CAI) technique in the area of industrial dimensional metrology.
