Abstract
On the basis of perturbation theory and numerical modelling, the effects of Coulomb temporal broadening of electron bunches in streak image tubes and photoelectron guns with static and time-dependent electric fields, alongside with the Coulomb effects of self-bunching and coalescence in ion ensembles in multi-reflection ion traps are demonstrated and discussed.
Keywords: Electron and ion bunches, perturbation theory, self-bunching, coalescence
