Abstract
This paper focused on the need to acquire entrepreneurial skills by women in small scale businesses in Nigeria It identified that small scale businesses owned by women in Nigeria fail to yield profit or sometimes even collapse as a result of the following: lack of managerial experience, lack of experience in the chosen line of business, neglect, fraud and inadequate capital. Therefore the paper sees entrepreneurial skills such as skill of initiative, accountability, skill of dealing with failure and skill of the use of resources as the appropriate skill needed by these women to sustain their businesses. In addition, suggested that the appropriate medium for reaching them should be through organized seminars and workshops, women organizations, market places, micro finance banks and local meetings.
