Abstract
A case report of angioedema or Quincke's edema that is defined as rapid swelling of the dermis, subcutaneous tissues mucosa and sub mucosal tissues is presented in this manuscript. Anaphylaxis, urticaria and angioedema are like identical triplets with regards to presentation and management. Although rare, angioedema has been documented to occur following the administration of angiotensin-Converting Enzyme Inhibitors, some pain killers and other classes of medications. Angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors are the leading cause of drug induced angioedema, which is a class effect that can affect between 0.1% and 0.5% of patients taking the drug. It is rarely documented in Nigeria with history of hypertension and use of several medications, our patients here made the cause much more complex to pin-point. The clinical approach of withdrawing past medications considered implicated and substituting it with other safer drugs dramatically reduced the reaction within 48 hours.
