Abstract
Sixty two strains were isolated from infected seeds and tissues collected from major rice growing regions of Madurai, TamilNadu, India. After its species confirmation with TEF primers samples were subjected to PCR analysis with cpr and P450-4 fragments primers. The cpr-fragments yielded amplicons between 820 and 834 bp in length and did not contain any intron. The amplified P450-4- fragments were between 650 and 654 bp in length and included one intron at a conserved position. A rapid methodology was adopted Through PCR for the detection of fumonisin producing Fusarium strains yielded PCR band of 578 bp length of rice infecting Fusarium strains.
