Abstract

Mass propagation via In vitro seeding constitutes an indispensable tool for propagation of the main commercial species of orchids. This study aimed to analyze the In vitro development of Cattlianthe "Jewel Box" by evaluating different concentrations of Jasmonic Acid in Kyoto culture medium. After 120 days of cultivation, the results showed that the concentration of 0.25 μL.L-1 caused a significant increase in biometric variables such as: length of the longest root and largest leaf, total length of the seedling and diameter of pseudobulb. Similarly, the concentration of 1.00 μL.L-1 showed the best result for the variables total fresh and dry weights. Nevertheless, the use of this plant regulator on In vitro culture media still requires further investigations to determine the optimal concentration to be used by producers, in order to obtain a high number of desirable phytotechnical characteristics in seedlings of various species of orchids.
