Abstract

Nannochloropsis sp. is one of the key sources of oil for food, aquaculture and biofuel. The alga was investigated for their potential of lipid accumulation in various culture media and salinity levels. The obtained data showed that salinity level for optimal growth of Nannochloropsis sp. was at 0 M, and grew better in BBM medium, but accumulated high lipid in F/2 medium. Moreover, salt stress did not have better effect on lipid accummulation, which cannot be applied as other algae.

Keywords: Algae, lipid, medium, salinity
