Abstract

Sesbania cannabina and Crotalaria juncea are annual shrubs and commonly used as green manure crop in India. In natural population their seedlings are uncommon and people are unaware about utilities and possible uses of these crops. Present study was undertaken to characterize seed germination and morphology of these two legume crops. Seed germination is the resumption of metabolic activity and growth by seeds which starts with the imbibitions of water and ends with the protrusion of embryonic roots. Seed germination is important to know the germination pattern of a plant. For this purpose dry and healthy seeds of both were soaked in water and sown in pots for germination.
