ETHNOBOTANICAL SURVEY OF PLANTS USED IN THE TREATMENT OF CHILDREN AILMENTS IN EKITI STATE, NIGERIA

Abstract
An ethnobotanical survey of the medicinal botanicals used in the treatment of children ailments was carried out among the Ekiti indigenes of Southwestern, Nigeria, using semi-structured questionnaire matrix. A total of 99 plant species, belonging to 44 families were identified as being used in the study area for the treatment of 25 different children ailments. Relevant information on these species with regard to their methods of utilization by the local tribal people was documented.
