Abstract

Upper GI endoscopy helps in the visualization of mucosa and to biopsy the representative area. Furthur helps in diagnosis, staging, and treatment planning. Endoscopy with biopsy is one of the primary methods for diagnosing esophageal cancer.

Present study was done to identify the spectrum of esophageal lesions among 112 cases of endoscopic biopsies of Esophagus received in the Department of pathology at a tertiary care centre over a period of 2 years. Various Inflammatory, Benign and Malignant lesions were encountered and the most common and the rare types of lesions are described in the study.
