GREENHOUSE CUCUMBER PRODUCTION AND MARKETING IN TURKEY

Abstract
Greenhouse cucumber growing plays an important role both from the perspective of the farm, as well as from that of the entrepreneur in Turkey. The purpose of this study is to investigate recent developments in greenhouse cucumber production and marketing of Turkey. For this aim, data of 2006-2015 period was investigated. Data was collected from Turkish Statistical Institute, The Turkish Ministry of Food, Agriculture, and Livestock, and Mediterranean Exporter Associations General Secretariat. Further, results of previous studies were also used. In 2015, 889,075 tons grenhouse cucumber was produced in Turkey. Greenhouse cucumber production of Turkey fluctuated in 2006-2015 period. Turkey exported 70.747 tons cucumbers to some countries in the world and total cucumber export value of Turkey was 47.89 million $ in 2015. Growers should gather all the economic data about the greenhouse cucumber production, and market conditions before building a greenhouse.
