Abstract
This study was conducted to evaluate the performance of maize varieties with a check ĐK 9901 variety. Days to 50 percent pollen shedding, days to 50 percent silking, plant height and grain yield were recorded. The result indicated that the NL13-4 gave the markedly highest days (80.0) to pollen shedding whereas the NL13-12 took the lowest days (70.0) as compared to control treatment. Moreover, the NL13-4 also showed clearly maximum days (82.0) to silking while the minimum days to silking was recorded in NL13-12 with value of 72.0 days compared to control treatment. For the plant height, the highest plant height of 174.7 cm was achieved in NL13-13 whereas the lowest plant height was found in NL13-5 with values of 143.2 cm compared to control treatment. Furthermore, NL13-4 variety gave the highest grain yield with value of 5.25 t/ha while the NL13-14 variety produced the lowest grain yield 2.91t/ha compared to control treatment. It was concluded that NL13-4 variety markedly have the potential to increase the average of maize yield in Vietnam and are therefore recommended to general cultivation.
