Abstract

Field experiment was carried out at Agricultural College and Research Institute Madurai during 2014 to 2015 to find out suitable rice residue management practice and nutrient dynamics by using combine harvester operated rice field after rice. The experiment was laid-out in randomized block design with five replications. The treatment details viz., T1: Incorporation of straw as such with tractor mounted with half cage wheel and rotovator, T2: T1+25 kg additional dose of N/ha as basal. T3: T1+addition of biofertilizers for decomposition of straw and incorporation later. T4: Control (No residue). The  results revealed that incorporation of straw as such with tractor mounted half cage wheel and rotovator with addition of biofertilizers for decomposition of straw and incorporation later followed by 100 percent recommended dose of fertilizers (biofertilizers agents such as Pleurotus sojar caju + Ttrichoderma viride and silicate solubilising bacteria @ 0.5 kg each t-1) recorded the highest growth, yield attributes, grain yield and straw yield due to higher utilization of nutrients in flowering and post harvest soil nutrient status. This was followed by incorporation of straw as such with tractor mounted half cage wheel and rotovator with 25 kg additional dose of N ha-1 as basal.

Keywords: Rice, combined harvester, dry matter production, yield and biofertilizers
