Abstract

The paper discusses the virtual training of specialists in the area of Earth sciences. It discusses the methodological and technical components of virtual training and describes the cognitive models and cognitive properties of the formation of virtual models. It analyses the importance of the information units in virtual models. The application of information situation models is a feature of the training. The paper considers an example of information situation to be used in virtual training. The peculiarity of the training is its multi-layered structure.
