Abstract

Sundarban Biosphere Reserve is the largest mangrove forest in the world, which accommodates 350 species of fishes. The present work reports the presence of Cirrhimuraena indica; Diploconger polystigmatus; Triacanthus nieuhofii; Upeneus sulphureus  from the Sundarban Biosphere Reserve, West Bengal. In this  report, C. indica and D. polystigmatus are also being reported from Indian mangroves for the first time.  These species were confirmed through single specimens collected from Kakdwip Harbour, Sunderban Biosphere Reserve. This article deals with the taxonomy and description of these four species from Indian Sunderban.
