Abstract

Most sites contamined with heavy metals, the phytoextraction is based on the use of plants for the remediation of contamined sites. This technique is not very aggressive to the environment and relatively inexpensive.

In this study, we have interested in the phytoextraction in the Ray grass of a soil contaminated artificially by zinc and the influence of this metal presence on the ray grass growth. The results showed that the ray grass of Italy Lolium multiflorum Lam is tolerant in the zinc; it presents no sign of stress after 4 weeks of culture in soil contaminated by these metals. The accumulated zinc arrests at the level of roots and it is not transferred towards the air parts.
