CHARACTERISTICS OF PRIMARY SCHOOL STUDENTS’ ONLINE ENGLISH LEARNING AND TEACHING SUGGESTIONS DURING COVID-19 IN CHINA

Abstract
In order to ensure the continuity of students’ learning after the outbreak of COVID-19, online teaching has been carried out on a large scale at all levels and types of schools under the initiative of the Ministry of Education in China. The findings of this study showed that for primary school students in China, smart phone is the most important learning tool; online live teaching is the main teaching method. The results also indicates that there is a significant correlation between overall effect of online English learning and learning status and related learning resources provided by teachers, and learning resources play an intermediary role between learning status and learning effect. The results of this study suggest to the teachers, parents and relevant education departments from two aspects of learning status and learning resources with the aim of providing reference for better adapting to the era of “Internet and Education” in the future in China.
