Abstract

Aim: To evaluate the anti-inflammatory activity of Coriander Oleoresin mediated selenium nanoparticles.

Materials and Methods: Coriander oleoresin mediated Selenium nanoparticles were prepared by adding 0.5 mL of Coriander Oleoresin extract with 0.519 g of sodium selenite with 99.5 mL of distilled water. The reaction mixture was kept in an orbital shaker with magnetic stirrer for nanoparticles synthesis. The formation of selenium nanoparticle was observed visually by colour change and was confirmed by UV-Visible spectrophotometer. Albumin Denaturation inhibitory Assay was carried out to evaluate the antiinflammatory activity of coriander oleoresin mediated selenium nanoparticles.

Results and Discussion:  The colour change in the reaction mixture showed the presence of selenium nanoparticles and was confirmed by UV-Visible spectroscopy with a peak at 320nm. The synthesized coriander oleoresin mediated selenium nanoparticles has shown dose dependent anti-inflammatory activity The maximum inhibitory effect, 90% on protein denaturation was observed at 50 µL of selenium nanoparticles

Conclusion: The green synthesis of selenium nanoparticle was easy and simple. The study concluded that Coriander Oleoresin mediated Selenium nanoparticles had good anti-inflammatory activity and hence it may be used for safe and eco-friendly synthesis of selenium nanoparticles for inflammatory conditions.

Keywords: Anti-inflammatory, coriander oleoresin, nanoparticles, selenium.
