Abstract

In this paper, a new approach for the development of planar Metamaterial structures is developed. In the latter years, the possibility of taking advantage of the unusual properties of the so- called metamaterial technology has led to a great deal of research activity. With the development of metamaterials in recent years, more and more interests have been attracted in the potential applications of these novel materials. For this purpose, split-ring resonators (SRRs) coupled to planar transmission lines are investigated. The electromagnetic behaviors of these elements, as well as their coupling to the host transmission line, are studied. The proposed analysis is of interest in the design of compact microwave devices based on the metamaterial concept. This paper first provides left-handed metamaterials and introduces technologies that are nearing practical use, focusing on such applications as wireless communication devices.  In this paper two three pole of cascade trisection microstrip bandpass filter are design and simulated. The one cascade trisection filter is without split ring resonator and other is with split ring resonator. After simulation the results are compared. The filter without split ring resonator having return loss -19.245 dB and insertion loss  -25.379 dB whereas filter with split ring resonator having return loss -20.4895dB and insertion loss -28.1617 dB  at 3GHz in pass band. The filters having frictional band width (FBW) of 4.42%. With the development of metamaterials in recent years , more and more interests have been attracted in the potential applications of these novel materials.  Both designed filters have same filter specifications with and without SRR at 3 GHz. Both proposed filters are simulated and characterized using HFSS simulator.
