Abstract
Dependency on electricity is steadily increasing. Power is considered as every individual’s basic right & it should be available all the times. An important objective of the power system is to maintain a very high level of continuity of service and when abnormal conditions occur, to minimize the outage time, huge direct & indirect financial loss taking place due to discontinuity in power supply across the globe. Further, it is essential that the load must be supplied with the quality power to ensure the health of the appliances/electronic gadgets/equipments. This paper reviews the power quality importance, classification, issues, causes & consequences and mitigation techniques at global level as well as at national level.
