Abstract

As a continuous source of alternative energy, harnessing solar energy is the topic of concern since a long time utilizing an inclined surface for increasing the incidence which includes the flat and inclined surfaces. Few other surfaces are also testified which is a type of wavy surface as sine wave etc. This investigation represents a collection on review of solar surfaces other then flat and inclined. The basic modeling approach is numerical and investigated over a series of experiments with conventional flat place solar collector. The various important and necessary equations are summarized by the appropriate transformation of non-dimensional form of governing boundary layer equations. Various numerical methods are used and their computational result were expressed in terms of the skin friction factor, performance dependent parameter (average temperature and velocity distribution of nanofluid), average Nusselt number, radiative heat transfer and convective heat transfer for nanofluid within the collector etc. The current work comprises the extensive review on solar wavy surface by computational method, different performance parameter used to affect the heat transfer rate. The various correlations from experimental results by temperature, velocity, radiating parameter and geometries on enhancements of heat transfer are discussed elaborately.

Keywords: Solar wavy surface, heat transfer, skin friction, aspect ratio
