Abstract
An analysis of the latest (2015) procedures for applying for patents in China; policies for foreigners or foreign companies that file patents in China; the newly expanded Intellectual Property Courts and their procedures for violators of patents in China including punishment for patent infringement. Analysis of other Chinese research papers in this field and a look at trends for patent filings in the pharmaceutical and automobile fields was conducted. Patent processes were reviewed and analyzed, and Chinese researchers’ assertions were also researched and analyzed for accuracy. Many industries could have been examined. Authors only chose the pharmaceutical and automotive industries since these industries represents some of the largest industries in China. Authors are not comparing industries, rather authors are looking to analyze patent practices and filing strategies as the two industries have filed multiple patents in China in recent years, many with slight modifications from previous patents and with different patent classifications and implications.
