Abstract
The importance of mathematics education skills in the attainment of both individual and national sustainable development cannot be over emphasized; hence it occupies a vital position in the curricula of the three levels of education in Nigeria. Mathematics is an important subject, course, and programme of study which has attracted a continuous change via modifications of methods and materials to its teaching and facilitation of learning in order to improve students' performance and learning. In spite of the above, poor performance and learning have continued to be the order of the day. Today, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) tool skills are very vital in easing teaching and learning activities and challenges for school effectiveness. The computer is one of such materials that are vital ensure quality teaching and learning of mathematics. It has become an invaluable resource for the enhancement of skill acquisition. This paper therefore examines Computer-Assisted Instruction (CAI) as a veritable tool for qualitative students’ mathematics skill development in Nigerian school system. Impediments and suggestions of CAI were also examined.
