Abstract

This work presents analysis of inclined slot radiator in the narrow wall of standard X-band rectangular waveguide by determining admittance and resonant length. The determination of admittance characteristic is the main focus. The analysis consists of the concept of self-reaction and discontinuity in modal current. Slot width and slot inclination are considered as variables and the results are computed for normalized admittance of the slot as a function of frequency. The analysis involves plane wave spectrum approach. The expression for resonant conductance obtained using the present method which is identical to that obtained by Stevenson [4] if the depth of cut is assumed to be zero for the top and bottom walls. In this present paper, analysis is done for the variation of conductance as a function of slot inclination for fixed depth of cut of 3.5 mm in both top and bottom walls of the standard X-band guide. The results are thus obtained for the variation of conductance, susceptance, coupling and VSWR as a function of frequency for higher slot inclinations. The slots considered in the present work are extremely useful for high power applications.

Keywords: Standard waveguides, depth of cut, Stevenson formula, high power applications, X-band, slot inclinations.
