Abstract

Use of natural dyes has increased several folds in the past few years, due to the eco-friendly approach. This paper concerns 50:50 blended bamboo cotton knitted fabric were dyed with Red cabbage (Brassica oleracea var. capitata rubra) using two eco-friendly mordants namely Alum and Lemon. After dyeing the fabric was evaluated using colourfastness test and it was concluded that fabric dyed using lemon mordent shows excellent in colour fastness to washing, crocking, pressing and sunlight and this evaluation was useful for textile industry.
