Abstract

In this paper, an adaptive artifact canceller (AAC) filter is implemented using Modified Cuckoo Search (MCS) optimization technique. The proposed scheme is applied for enhancement of EMG signals. Our simulation results show that the AAC filter based on MCS technique gives better performance than other optimization algorithms used to enhance the EMG signal. The performance of AAC filter is compared with other reported techniques by evaluating the fidelity parameters such as the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), maximum error (ME) and mean square error (MSE). The proposed AAC filter design with MCS scheme gives 19% improvement in output SNR, 89% decrease in ME, and 84% reduction in MSE over the recently reported discrete wavelet transform (DWT) technique.
