Abstract

Aims: This study investigates the influence of discipline, instructional media utilization, and educational background on teacher performance at SMA Negeri 1 Sitellu Tali Urang Jehe, Pakpak Bharat Regency, North Sumatra.

Study Design:  Using a quantitative explanatory correlational design, data were collected from 33 teachers through questionnaires, observations, and documentation.

Place and Duration of Study: The research was conducted at SMA Negeri 1 Sitellu Tali Urang Jehe, Pakpak Bharat Regency, North Sumatra, Indonesia, over a four-month period from February 2025 to May 2025.

Methodology: The study involved 40 teachers, with 33 participating as respondents. Data were collected through questionnaires, observations, and documentation, and the instruments were tested for validity and reliability. The analysis was carried out using descriptive statistics and regression techniques.

Results: The findings show that discipline has a significant impact on improving teacher effectiveness, while instructional media utilization and educational background do not make notable contributions. Overall, discipline emerged as the dominant factor shaping teacher effectiveness in this context.

Conclusion: The study underscores the importance of discipline in enhancing educational outcomes and suggests that future research should consider other variables such as motivation, leadership, and organizational culture to provide a more comprehensive understanding of teacher development.
