Abstract
Shea butter (Vitellaria paradoxa, Gaertrier.F) percentage (%) yield was evaluated using three fat extraction schemes. The effect of sheanuts quality and extraction methods on certain characteristic procedure was also assessed. Results obtained showed that the hydraulic press yielded the highest oil in brown wholesome nuts (95±1.3 ml) compared to the boiling (90± 1.12 ml) and skimming (72±1.24) method. This suggests that hydraulic press technique is the best economic technique for shea butter extraction.
