Abstract
Background: There are strong evidence that combined effect of E-selectin on the development of atherosclerotic lesions. Beside low HDL and existing inflammatory marker, E-selectins might involve in pathogenesis of cardiovascular disease.
Aims and Objectives: The aim of the present study was to investigate a possible relation between the known proatherogenic risk factors low HDL levels with E-selectin in cardiovascular disease. This study analyzed the probability of E-selectin as a reliable diagnostic biomarker along with other parameters like alteration in high sensitive Troponin-T, Creatine Kinase (CK) and CKMB mass to screen for risk factors of cardiovascular disorders.
Materials and Methods: The study included 75 patients between the ages of 50-60 years of either sex with coronary artery disease. The patients were divided into three groups based on their serum high sensitive Troponin-T levels. 2
Results: The high sensitive Troponin-T values showed a significant change with p<0.001 in group II and group III. The Creatine Kinase (CK) and CKMB mass showed a significant change with p<0.001 between group I and group III but with no significant change with group II. Serum E-selectin and HDL showed no significant changes between groups. In Group II & III E-selectin showed a significant negative correlation with high sensitive Troponin-T.
Conclusion: In conclusion, the E-selectin did not show any significant change in our study population, which had significant alterations in high sensitive Troponin- T levels. Genetic polymorphism could be the reason for this.
