Abstract
Introduction: Nanoparticles are a great field of interest as it bridges between bulk materials and atomic structures. Nanoparticles can be prepared from materials like proteins, polysaccharides and even in synthetic polymers and the selection of materials depends on the size of the nanoparticle required, degree of biocompatibility and toxicity. Selenium nanoparticles have gained special attention due to their favorable properties and their bio activities like lower toxicity than inorganic and organic forms so it has become a good reason of choice in the nanoparticle study. Acalypha indica is an erect, often simple-stemmed annual herb distributed widely throughout the tropics and has been acknowledged by local people as a useful source of medicine for several therapeutic treatments. It exhibits anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, and anti-cancer. On the other hand selenium nanoparticles were attractive due to their properties.
Aim: To evaluate A. indica mediated selenium nanoparticles have antimicrobial and antioxidant properties.
Methodology: Preparation of A.indica mediated Selenium nanoparticleswas followed by antioxidant Profile by DPPH activity and Well diffusion method for antimicrobial activity.
Results: A. indica mediated Se nanoparticles exhibit significant antioxidant and antimicrobial activity.
Conclusion: Acalypha indica mediated selenium nanoparticles have good antimicrobial and antioxidant property at high concentrations.
